PHS Report
Original 4bbl 4 speed transmission from factory
This GTO has a date correct block and heads, just not an original engine or Tri Power set up. Almost everything else is as it was when ordered. It did have a black vinyl top originally. Garrett Classics is proud to showcase this beautifully restored 1966 Pontiac GTO Hardtop Coupe. This car displays excellent paint & body along with strong mechanicals. The interior is clean, correct, and detailed. This stance is thanks to the proper PMD Rally Wheels wrapped in Firestone Super Sport redline tires. The paint shows exceptionally well throughout. Although not perfect, it is extremely nice.
Open the doors to 1966. The instruments and dash wood shows well. The speedometer & tachometer are functional as are the oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level gauges. Also the AM push button radio is working. The mileage is believed to be original, but we have no documents to back that up. Much of the interior appears to be original. Under the hood is the 389 V8. This is a "YE" block that has the 3x2bbl. carburetors added. The heads are cast with 093 which are 66 heads. The engine runs smooth and is paired with the 4-speed manual transmission. Factory accessories include power steering & power front disc brakes.
The original Firewall identification plate is in place and legible. This GTO Hardtop Coupe (66-24217) was built the 4th week of January, 1966 (01D) in Pontiac, Michigan, (PON). The interior is standard black (223-B) while the paint is solid Burgundy (N-2). Accessory codes include group 2 (G) center console, (W) tinted windshield, and group 5 (Y) for custom seat belts. The VIN plate is intact and legible, complete with the factory flowered rivets.
The undercarriage further reiterates the solid condition of this '66 GTO. The suspension has been previously rebuilt. The door undersides are excellent. The flooring looks to be solid as well front to back. The trunk is complete with the correct mat along with the factory jack & a matching spare tire/wheel. This is your opportunity to own an exceptionally nice 1966 Pontiac GTO Hardtop Coupe. It is hard to find them in this kind of condition. This is a car that can be driven and shown.
