This '57 Chevy Nomad was owned over 24 years by the current owner, kept in mostly original condition. It underwent a complete restoration approximately 24 years ago. The Matador Red paint is decent, but shows a number of flaws. There are paint chips and you can see lacquer "checking" in some areas, a nod to how old this paint job is. The body is straight and true and the car has plenty of eye appeal, as you can see. It is also mechanically strong. The chrome work shows well. All of the exterior trim & bright work is intact. The interior is correct, with added auxiliary gauges to monitor voltage, water temperature, and oil pressure. A tachometer has also been added.
The Bel Air black & red with silver thread seat upholstery is in great shape throughout. The headliner is also in excellent shape, as are the polished "chromed" bows. Under the hood is the strong running classic 283 4bbl. V8 engine (engine stamping F503EC) The engine appears mostly stock with the addition of Corvette finned aluminum valve covers. The firewall, inner fenders and core support sheet metal is in excellent condition. Also, the trim identification plate is intact and legible.
The undercarriage appears to be exceptionally solid front to back. We have not found any indications of previous rust or bad repairs. The frame and flooring looks solid. Here are the major paint chips along a few edges, etc.
